Yesterday the city council revealed that a ‘brownfield site’ on Station Road has been ear-marked for re-development.
The site is currently home to a derelict warehouse that was formerly used by Anderson’s Clothing Company before it was destroyed by fire in 2004. It has since become unsafe and a home for vermin.
Plans have been submitted as part of a planning application to re-develop the site into a cargo distribution centre. This expands on recent investments made in air and rail freight capacity.
It is estimated that the cargo centre will bring a number of new jobs to Brickford, as well as create one of the largest distribution centres in the region.
