With the launch of the new ‘Pearl’ travel card, comes easier travelling and cost effective pricing.

The new card came in to force today and will give regular travellers the ability to just touch their Pearl card onto the new Monorail card sensors in order to board their train without having to buy a new ticket every day.

The card can be charged up with credit which is then spent when the traveller touches in and out of the monorail system. The system them works out the best price for the journey and deducts it from the card. In addition, it will help to reduce the cost of producing and cleaning away paper tickets.

The system is planned to be introduced to rail services shortly but cards are currently available from the Monorail Stations at Park Street and High Street or from the Council Offices.
