This week, Brickford’s air freight capacity rose following the extension of services at the airport.
The first light freight jet touched down on Wednesday morning, carrying hundreds of parcels and crates for the city and neighbouring areas. This follows on from the introduction of small airmail delivery craft which began landing at the airport in February.
The increase comes as air freight services, which had spent the last 8 years landing at nearby RAF Bricklebury, were ceased.
Recent improvements to Brickford’s rail services means that some freight will be distributed via rail whilst others will be distributed by road. The move was welcomed by the city council and it has created a number of new jobs.
